Golf in Kent

It's time to swing into the golfing season and whether you are an accomplished golfer or a budding beginner, Kent is the ideal place for a round of golf or golfing break.

The Garden of England is known first and foremost for the three championship links golf courses; Royal St George’s, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince’s, of which all have been honoured with  staging  the UK’s only major, The British Open Championship.

In 2020, Royal St George’s will host the 149th Open Championship. Having already hosted the world’s oldest golf prize an impressive 14 times, most recently in 2011 when Darren Clarke lifted the famous Claret Jug, Royal St George’s is the only golf course in the south of England on the current Open rota. Royal Cinque Ports meanwhile staged the Open Championship in 1909 and 1920 and Prince’s in 1932 when it was won by Gene Sarazen.

Further down the coast from this tantalizing championship trio, Littlestone is another revered championship links gem whilst to the north, the cliff top course at North Foreland offers a stiff golfing challenge alongside spectacular views over Kent’s white cliffs and the English Channel.

Testament to their quality, the two downland golf courses at the London Golf Club were designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, and regularly host top amateur and professional golf tournaments, just 20 miles from central London.

Hever Castle and Leeds Castle offer particularly scenic golf courses set against spectacular historic castle backdrops, landscaped gardens and lakes.

Perched on top of the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover, with sea views from every hole, the unique location of Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club delivers stunning views across the English Channel to the coast of France.
